SMS Privacy Policy

At IndividualEyes Dry Eye Center, we are committed to providing efficient, patient-focused care. Because of the specialized nature of dry eye treatment and our commitment to a high level of service, we rely heavily on secure SMS (text) messaging and email communications to keep our patients informed and engaged throughout their care. This policy explains how and why we use SMS, how we protect your information, and how you can opt out if you choose.

Why SMS is Important to Our Office

Timely communication is essential to the way we deliver care.  We use secure SMS to share important updates, helping you stay informed and prepared. These messages include: 

· Appointment reminders and confirmations

· Pre-visit instructions to help you prepare for your appointment

· Scheduling updates, including cancellations, or rescheduling

· Office announcements, such as holiday hours, closures, or construction alerts

· Brief post-visit instructions or follow-up requests 

· General patient communication related to your care

· Billing notifications, including payment plan updates and balances due

Privacy and Security

As these communications are a core part of our patient care process, we value your privacy and strive to keep communication clear, convenient, and responsive to your needs, taking steps to ensure responsible communication. We currently use two SMS Messaging systems that are HIPAA-compliant, along with appropriate encryption, to send patient health information (PHI) via email. 

Consent and Opt-Out

By providing your mobile phone number and/or initiating communication with us via text, you consent to receive SMS messages from IndividualEyes Dry Eye Center. 

To opt out at any time, simply reply “STOP” to any message, or call our office at (480)485-6403. You may continue to receive voice calls or email messages from us. 

Please note: While participation is voluntary, opting out of text messages may result in missed information that could affect your appointment or care experience. Choosing to opt out may affect your ability to receive timely appointment reminders or preparation instructions for your upcoming visits.

Your Role in Secure Communication

· Monitor your text messages and emails for appointment-related updates

· Understand that message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier

Compliance Statement

This SMS policy complies with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and Arizona state privacy regulations. Your phone number and personal information will never be sold or shared. No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent. This information will not be shared with any third parties.
